embed PDF

without comments

I am tired of starting the acrobat reader every time when I want to check out an PDF file. I tried to embed them directly into my page and came to this very simple solution:

Include this short source code into the <body> of the html code of your page.

<embed src=”sample.pdf” width=”xxx” height=”xxx“>

adobe acrobat reader has to be installed on the pc you are opening the homepage with. The rest is just working out fine!
if there is not the correct link to the PDF file or the acrobat reader is missing, the space just stays free.

here an example:

adobe starts office-suite acrobat.com

without comments

Adobe started its online Office-suite and ended the beta test phase. From now on the service is liable to costs. There is still a free version but here are some functions which are blocked. The suite includes the online text tool Buzzword, the meeting room ConnectNow with screensharing, CreatePDF to create PDF-Files, Share for simple exchange of files and the online harddisk My Files. The applications Tables and Presentations will start soon.

Acrobat.com is based on Flash and works online in a browser. With Adobe Air, it is possible to use it offline as a desktop application.

phishing attack on facebook.com

without comments

In the last days I got a lot of massages with the same subject “look” containing an url from my friends. Referring to golem.de hackers try to phish facebook user’s login data. Never klick on the url! You are getting to a copy of the facebook site, which seems to be the same and there  is a 1×1 pixel bad iframe! The ISC (Internet Storm Center) warns not to visit the site!

So allways be sure, that you are on the real facebook.com site and change your password in short intervals!
